B
- Batyline : A premium textile made from polyester fibre covered in a protective PVC coating. This material is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions. It is used in our technical canvases.
- Boat fittings: All nautical accessories and hardware.
- Bolt rope: A peripheral rope sewn into the net. Mandatory for horizontal nets. Optional for vertical nets, recommended for use with tension ropes.
- (Double) boltrope: A second, unstitched peripheral rope, which is simply threaded through the mesh to prolong the lifespan of the edge of the net.
- Braided mesh: Meshes without knots. More comfortable and therefore better suited to horizontal nets. Available in various sizes (15 mm, 20 mm, 30 mm and 45 mm).
C
- Chemical sealing: A system that involves anchoring a fastener element in a material and injecting resin that will harden and keep it in place. LOFTNETS does not currently offer chemical sealing.
D
- Dyneema® (mesh): An ultra-resistant catamaran net ideal for offshore racing catamarans and coastal regattas. For sailing use only.
E
- Eye bolt: An A4 stainless steel fastener system for indoor and outdoor home nets and guardrails. Offers solid, corrosion-resistant anchoring for metal structures (product details).
- (Blocker) Eye plate: Fastening system for indoor and outdoor horizontal house nets with point-by-point lacing. Can be supplied with two 5x50 mm stainless steel A2 TX screws. Corrosion-resistant and suitable for use with wood only (product details).
- (Stainless steel A4) Eye plate: A fastener system for indoor and outdoor horizontal home nets and guardrails. Can be sold with two 5x50 mm stainless steel A2 TX screws. Corrosion-resistant and suitable for use with wood only (product details).
- (8x80 mm A4 stainless steel) Eye screws: A fastener system for indoor and outdoor nets. A4 stainless steel is the most resistant to corrosion and varying weather conditions. Suitable for use with wooden and concrete frames. Special wall plugs supplied for use with concrete (product details).
- (12x120 mm galvanized steel) Eye screw: A fastener system for indoor nets. The closed eye helps keep the rope in place and the net taut. Suitable for wooden and concrete frames, notably when these are behind plasterboard. Special wall plugs supplied for use with concrete (product details).
F
- (no) Finishing: A net without a finish. If this finish is chosen, it will be possible to re-cut the net if necessary. The net designed will be close to the frame. Only available for vertical nets and ideal if you do not intend on using a tension rope or if you plan on attaching your net directly to the steps in a set of stairs for example.
- Frame: The structure that will house your net, where the fasteners will be attached.
G
H
- Heat-setting: A heat-setting process used to stabilize a braided mesh.

- Knotted mesh: Meshes that are knotted together. A knotted mesh is only suitable for guardrail nets as they are less comfortable for walking and lying on. Available in two sizes (50 mm and 60 mm).
L
- Lacing gap: The space between your net and the hanging structure, which is connected to the rope by a lacing system. Your net will loosen over time depending on its use. This system will help extend the life of your net by enabling it to be retensioned with a rope, ensuring the net will not need to be replaced earlier than necessary.
- Lacing shackle: This will act as an intermediary between the net’s bolt rope and the tension rope, limiting the friction between these elements (product details). Not to be confused with a fixing shackle, which is used to attach a net to a metal cornerplate or IPN.
M
- Multitramp: An ultra-resistant material that combines the benefits of both mesh and PVC for ultra-high performance. This material is used in our technical canvases.
N
- Net edge protection kit: Makes entering your home net easier by covering the space between the fasteners and the bolt rope. This kit is available in 15 mm or 30 mm white mesh and comes with four A4 stainless steel shackles for attaching the net.

- Sag: Or “sinking”. Nets sag when they are loaded with weight.
- (A4 stainless steel) shackle jumper: A fastener system for indoor and outdoor guardrails. An innovative fastener that means a tensioning rope does not need to be used to secure your guardrail net, as the fastener can be opened and the closest mesh in the net threaded through (product details).
- Splice: Custom seamanship work completed at LOFTNETS’ workshops. Two loops at the end of a Dyneema® rope.
T
- (TEC400) technical canvas: 3x3 mm braided mesh technical canvas.
- (TEC600) technical canvas: 6.5x7 mm braided mesh technical canvas.
- Turnbuckle: Used to tension a Dyneema® rope when installing a vertical or horizontal net on a frame with missing edges.
