Missing edges

Sometimes a frame will be missing an edge and only three out of four sides will be able to house the fasteners for attaching your home net. LOFTNETS advises you and helps find a solution.

We recommend closing your structure with a wooden beam, metal tube or other structural material to "create" this missing side. You can request our network of artisan fitters who can carry out this type of work. If so, please get in touch for the contact details of our partners.

Dyneema® rope for missing edge

One solution offered by LOFTNETS is a custom-made system with Dyneema® rope to replace a beam or a metal tube, where one cannot be added to the structure.

This solution should be used with caution, however, as the net will only be attached to two hanging points, meaning these could be subjected to intense forces exerted by potentially heavy weights on the net. It is important to ensure these two fastener points will be able to withstand the strain placed on them in the existing frame.

This type of system features the following elements and its length will vary depending on the space you wish to fill:

• A Dyneema® tension rope to the correct length, finished with splices produced in our workshop;
• Two high-resistance stainless steel shackles;
• Two fasteners depending on the type of structure (stainless steel plates that will be attached to a wooden frame with four screws, eye bolts for metal frame, 10x100 mm eye screws with plugs for concrete)
• An M10 stainless steel turnbuckle to create tension (today, M8 turnbuckle for horizontal nets only)

Important

This solution can only be used for a missing edge less than 5 m long, as it will create a certain amount of curvature, which will impact the net’s tension. If this edge is next to a wall, a space can be created between the cable and the wall, where the net will sag the most.

Make sure the net is retensioned regularly using the turnbuckle to ensure this edge remains taut.

This system is designed for a safe working load of 500 kg.
