Online net design tool: the 7 steps in designing your home net

A specialist in custom-made catamaran and home nets, LOFTNETS has created its own unique online design tool so you can design your own custom-made net from anywhere in the world.

The form is quick and easy to fill out (approx. 5-10 mins) depending on how much you know about home nets. You will receive your quote by email and be able to order your net in just a few clicks.

There are 7 steps in filling out our home net form. In this article, we will go through each step one by one.

Design my project

1. The installation site for your net

Select whether the net is for indoor or outdoor use.

2. Type of net

Select whether you would like a horizontal net or a vertical net (guardrail).

Vertical nets can be installed without ropes by passing the mesh direct through shackle jumpers (find out more in our article Which net for which use?).

3. The space the net will fill

Select the shape of the structure that will house your net. You can use our form to get an instant quote for the following shapes: square, rectangle, triangle, right-angled triangle, right-angled trapezoid, isosceles trapezoid, any type of quadrilateral.

At this stage, you can let us know if your shape needs any cut-outs (ladders, chimney pipes, etc.). By checking this box, you can give us more details (number of cut-outs, shape, dimensions, position of nearest corner...) and send us a diagram and photos.

For any other shapes, please click on "Another shape: contact us". Fill in our contact form and send us a diagram with the exact dimensions of the structure you wish to fill (length, width, dimensions of sides and diagonals). Our team will get back to you as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT:

To ensure you design is completely custom-made, we will need the exact dimensions of the structure that will be filled. These need to be taken clockwise, from one edge to the other of your frame. These measurements should be given in millimetres (or inches). A margin of error of a few millimetres is permitted (up to 20 mm max).

Please follow the instructions given in the diagram shown here to enter the measurements required.

Note that the lacing gap—the space between the frame and the net that is attached by a rope—will be calculated by our engineer. You do not need to enter it in the form.

→ Find our more about how to measure your structure in this article.

4. Choice of mesh

Select your desired size and color of mesh.

→ Find out more about the different meshes LOFTNETS offers

5. Choice of net edge

Choosing a bolt rope (simple or double) for horizontal nets. Bolt ropes are mandatory for horizontal nets but optional for vertical nets.

Vertical nets can be made with no finishing (simple mesh) or with a thin bolt rope.

By default, bolt ropes come in the same color as the net, but it is possible to choose another color.

You will then need to add the fasteners and tensioning rope to create a complete system so you can set up your net according to the instructions in our installation manual.

6. Choice of fasteners

Selecting fasteners based on the type of your structure. We offer fasteners for wooden, metal and concrete structures.

The quantity of fasteners you need will be calculated automatically based on the dimensions you enter, with one hanging point every 12 cm and a smaller gap for the corners. You can, however, adjust the quantity you would directly in the form. The price will be updated automatically.

If you have a structure with sides made from different materials, please select all the materials. You will then need to manually adjust the quantity of fasteners you need.

Lacing shackles (optional for criss-cross lacing only)

If you prefer criss cross lacing for horizontal net, you can choose lacing shackles (for simple or double bolt rope). It's a solution designed to extend the lifespan of your net and its bolt rope. This will act as an intermediary between the net’s bolt rope and the tension rope, limiting the friction between these elements and making it easier to achieve optimum tension.

7. Choice of tensioning rope

The tensioning rope will enable you to tension your net. Simply lace the rope around the bolt rope and through the fasteners.

For horizontal nets, you will have to choose between two types of lacing :

Our configurator tool will automatically calculate the length of rope you need for the type of lacing you choose and the perimeter of the net, rounded up to the nearest metre.

At this stage, you can also choose the color of rope you would like. By default, it will be the same color as the net.

Adding an additional net

It is possible to add several net designs to a single quote, either adding an identical net or another custom-made net.

Receiving your personalized quote

After you have created your customer account, you will be sent a quote by email with a link to your basket. This puts you under no obligations and simply offers a quick way to return to your order and finalize your quote if it meets your needs.
