To ensure your net is designed completely around your needs, our team needs to know the exact dimensions of the structure that will house your net. This is the space your net will fill.
We recommend measuring your structure in mm from edge to edge using a tape measure or laser telemeter and noting down the exact measurements. You can draw a diagram of the shape and its dimensions to get a clearer vision of your project.
In our online configurator tool, you can select the shape of the structure and enter your dimensions. For any other shapes, please send us a diagram with the exact dimensions of the structure you wish to fill (length, width, dimensions of sides and diagonals), via our contact form at Step 3.
If you already have your own fasteners, measure the space the net will fill in the same way, from edge to edge, without taking into account any fasteners already in place. Please then contact our advisers and let them know the length of your fasteners (internal space) and their internal diameter so we can adapt our calculations.
Our team will then calculate the lacing gap required (a 3-10 cm gap is used to allow the net to be retensioned after a few weeks of use).
The importance of lacing gaps
The lacing gap is the space between your net and the hanging structure, which is connected to the rope by a lacing system. LOFTNETS horizontal nets are made from an exclusive material that has a low stretch factor (less than 8% for our Marine 3S® polyester versus 12-15% for a standard polyester net).
After use, your net will expand slightly and the lacing gap will enable you to easily retension your net, pulling it as close as possible to the edge. Our technical team will calculate the correct lacing gap for the dimensions of your net and ensure there is a minimal gap between your net and the supporting structure.
You could be led to think the structure looks better without a lacing gap because there is no empty space, but your net is a “living” product that will loosen over time, no matter how well you take care of it.
To ensure a longer lifespan and avoid having a loose net that needs to be replaced before its time, our lacing system makes it possible to retension your net, so it maintains its qualities over time.
For a guardrail, it is possible to go without a lacing gap—i.e., using no finishing or tension rope—for a more “industrial” look, instead attaching the mesh directly to the fasteners or using a thin bolt rope (find out more in this article).
IMPORTANT :
The net you receive will be slightly smaller than the dimensions you send us. This is completely normal and simply allows your net to be pulled taut, ensuring good hold and maximum comfort.
